Stretching is a form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon (or muscle group) is deliberately flexed or stretched in order to improve the muscle’s felt elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility, and range of motion.
Manual therapy has been demonstrated to reduce pain and improve function in patients with frozen shoulder contracture syndrome (FSCS), rotator cuff strains, hip dysfunction, labral tears, back or neck injuries and following surgical procedures.
In particular, regaining hip or knee joint range of motion and function following a total hip or total knee replacement (THR/TKR) can be difficult. IPT combines massage, myofascial release, Graston Technique, and all the services listed to make the manual stretching more comfortable. Rather than just pushing on the joint to return joint and tissue mobility; IPT softens the tissue and calms the joint and tissue receptors first and throughout the session to optimize motion with the least pain. Many clinics simply put patients on a machine or crank on a joint to regain the limited motion. IPT does not take this limited approach, rather IPT works with your body’s healing intelligence to accomplish your goals.
